President’s spokesman announces veto to wind farm bill

Polish President Karol Nawrocki will not approve the so-called “wind turbine bill,” presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz said, citing concerns over combining wind energy investment reforms with electricity price freezes. While Nawrocki supports freezing household power prices until year’s end, he opposes linking it to unrelated wind farm legislation, calling it an awkward move. The president will soon present his own proposal to freeze prices, fulfilling his campaign promise of “33% less for electricity in 100 days.”
The bill, recently passed by parliament, aims to ease onshore wind farm rules by reducing the minimum distance from homes to 500 meters, down from 700, while extending the current energy price freeze to Q4 2025.
