Survey: employers reluctant to hire Gen Z workers

Generation Z (born 1995–2012) is entering the workforce in growing numbers, but many employers express concerns about hiring and retaining them. According to a survey by career platform Intelligent, one in six employers is reluctant to hire Gen Z workers, citing entitlement, poor communication, and difficulty accepting feedback as key issues.
Around 60% of companies have dismissed recent university graduates shortly after hiring due to lack of motivation, professionalism, and workplace readiness. Managers report issues such as tardiness, inappropriate dress, and poor workload management. Experts note Gen Z often lacks basic social and professional skills despite academic knowledge, highlighting the need for proper onboarding, training, and leadership support in the workplace.
