Tusk: Poland’s future will depend on development of railways

At the opening of the 16th International Railway Fair TRAKO in Gdańsk, Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared that Poland’s future depends on rail development, highlighting plans for a High-Speed Rail (HSR) network exceeding 300 km/h. He announced a “historic order” to be launched in the coming days and urged Polish firms like Newag and Pesa to compete for it, stressing the project’s role in jobs, industry, and accessibility. Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak confirmed that the ministry’s 2026 budget will surpass PLN 100 billion, with a large share for rail, including 1,000 km of new lines by 2035.
Nearly 700 exhibitors from 29 countries are attending TRAKO 2025, which also marks PKP’s centenary and 200 years of global railways.
