Tusk wants sanctions on food from Belarus and Russia

Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced his intention to propose a resolution to the Speaker of the Sejm, upon his return from Vilnius, urging the European Commission to impose full sanctions on Russian and Belarusian food products. He emphasized that a joint European decision would be more effective than individual state decisions. The aim is to strengthen sanctions in response to Russia's attack on Ukraine and Belarus's cooperation with Russia, as well as to protect European, Lithuanian, and Polish agricultural and food markets. Tusk also pledged to present specific proposals for revising certain provisions of the Green Deal to ensure environmental protection aligns with agricultural interests. He highlighted the concerns of Polish farmers regarding rising production costs and the impact of the Green Deal on their livelihoods.
Tusk plans to announce the proposed changes to the Green Deal publicly this week.
