Adam Mickiewicz Institute transfers Polish cultural capital
The activities of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute – for example, Fokus Auf Polen in Germany, or projects related to pointing out the common Polish-Ukrainian heritage, or the concerts and Romantic plays that have been realized – show how contemporary, modern Polish culture is, what the strength of our potential is and what our place in this new Europe can be. Especially today, when we are discussing the new hope of the periphery and what is the place of Central and Eastern Europe in geopolitics.
"Today, we are also focusing on our cooperation with Ukraine, presenting various projects, concerts, exhibitions, installations, and performances worldwide. We include Ukraine in these activities. Also showing the romantic context, because Ukrainian romanticism was strongly connected to Polish romanticism," Barbara Schabowska, director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, said.
"It's insanely important to see that Ukraine is part of the European tradition, not Russian. The directions of our activities are set by the Minister of Foreign Affairs – in his expose indicating strategic directions. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is present in these areas, but this year we are also focusing on Germany," Schabowska added.
