AI to impact every fourth person’s work, women under more pressure

A joint report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Poland’s NASK reveals that up to 25% of jobs worldwide may be affected by generative AI, though full automation is unlikely. Instead, AI is expected to transform tasks within many roles, with the greatest impact on repetitive office jobs like administration and data entry.
Women, especially in developed countries, are more exposed to this risk—9.6% of female-held jobs face high automation potential versus 3.5% for men. Richer nations are more vulnerable due to advanced digital economies, while lower-income countries remain less affected. The report urges proactive policies: digital skills training, educational reform, and fair transition planning to avoid deepening existing social and economic inequalities.
