Berliner Zeitung, Poland is facing a financial crisis

Despite Poland’s strong economy—marked by growth, low unemployment, and high defense spending—"Berliner Zeitung" warns of a looming financial crisis. Journalist Klaus Bachmann compares Poland’s situation to Greece’s 2008 crisis, blaming excessive social spending and mounting debt. Programs like the 500+ child benefit and later expansions created public expectations that are difficult to reverse. While Poland is praised for defense investments, its social spending and growing budget deficit outpace income, with debt servicing consuming 9–10% of budget revenues.
Unlike Greece, Poland isn’t in the eurozone, making international bailouts unlikely. With less than 13% of its debt held abroad, a crisis may not trigger global concern, leaving Poland to face consequences alone.
