Between 13% and 28% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Poland have cyber insurance, depending on their size. Microenterprises report the lowest coverage at 13%, while medium-sized businesses have the highest at 28%. The most common adopters are trade, transport, and construction sectors. Despite this, only 5% of service sector companies, such as medical and legal offices, have cyber insurance.
Experts caution that such policies do not prevent cyberattacks but help mitigate their aftermath. Insurers require businesses to implement data protection measures, including regular updates, backups, and encryption. While cyber insurance cannot prevent breaches, it can significantly reduce financial and reputational damages in case of data theft.
