Brexit, before it even happened, has been costing Great Britain almost as much as it has paid into the Union since 2000. According to the calculations of Bloomberg Economics analysts, the total economic cost of leaving the European Union by Great Britain has so far amounted to €130 billion, and by the end of 2020, it is expected to increase by another €70 billion. Within 3.5 years of the EU referendum, economic growth has halved from 2% up to 1% y/y.
After the victorious parliamentary election for the Conservative Party in December 2019, it became almost certain that Britain would leave the European Union at the end of January 2020.
