Many universities in Poland are not aligned with labor market needs. In some regions, only one popular study field is in high demand. For instance, in Podkarpacie, most higher education institutions offer programs that are oversupplied and not sought after by employers. Nationwide, the most popular fields of study—management, IT, administration, logistics, and economics—do not always match job market requirements.
The Polish Economic Institute (PIE) notes that only finance and accounting, pedagogy, and nursing meet both popularity and demand criteria. The issue is pronounced in less urbanized regions, where high-skilled workers are scarce, making it harder for graduates to find suitable employment locally.
