Recent Eurostat data reveal that Poland's Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) per capita stands at 83 PPS, below the EU average. AIC measures household welfare by accounting for all goods and services consumed, regardless of purchase origin.
In 2023, Luxembourg led the EU with an AIC of 136 PPS per capita, 36 percent above the average, followed by the Netherlands and Germany at 119 PPS. On the lower end, Hungary and Bulgaria recorded the lowest AIC at 70 PPS.
Poland’s AIC surpasses countries like the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Greece but lags behind Lithuania, Portugal, and Slovenia. Over the past three years, 15 EU countries saw AIC increases, while 11 experienced declines, reflecting disparities in household welfare across the bloc.
While Poland is below the EU average, its AIC positioning highlights a mixed economic picture compared to other member states.
