Labor costs in Poland breaking records

As of mid-2025, the average monthly cost of employing one worker in Poland’s business sector has surpassed PLN 10,000, doubling over the past decade. Rising wages, social contributions, and taxes have outpaced productivity growth, putting pressure on company budgets. A further minimum wage increase is set for January 2026. According to Grupa Progres, nearly half of employers avoid hiring when salary expectations are too high, and many struggle with rising costs of training, layoffs, and employee benefits.
Labor costs vary widely by industry, from over PLN 17,000 in mining and IT to around PLN 6,500 in hospitality. Companies must now adopt more strategic and cost-conscious employment practices to remain competitive.
