Life expectancy grows

According to life expectancy tables released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS), the average life expectancy for a 60-year-old has increased by 15.4 months and for a 65-year-old by 13.8 months. These tables are used as the basis for granting pensions on requests submitted from 1 April to 31 March of the following calendar year. The new tables show that a 60-year-old can expect to live for 254.3 months, compared to 238.9 months in last year's tables, while a 65-year-old can expect to live for 210 months, compared to 196.2 months last year.
The changes will affect the amount of pensions granted from April, which will be lower by 6-6.6% depending on the age of the retiree.
