The Ministry of Development is working on amending geodetic law to prevent construction project delays, according to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The update aims to extend the transitional period for using old basic maps until the end of 2027, allowing county officials to continue using pre-2014 standards.
Without this change, 148 counties (40% of the country) would lose legal grounds to provide necessary maps by January 2025, potentially halting construction processes, including utility connections.
The Ministry expects 95% of counties to complete data systems by 2027, while 19 counties will receive additional support. The legislative changes are expected to be approved in Q4 2024.
