Poland is the leader of the European Union in terms of absorption of the EU allocation with a result of 57.4 percent, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy announced on Friday.
Poland has achieved the highest position in the reimbursement of funds in the history of membership in the European Union (percentage absorption).
"Never before has Poland been so high in the current financial perspective. For the first time, we have become the EU leader in terms of absorption of the EU allocation with a result of 57.4 percent. It is, among other things, thanks to the increase in spending, including the fight against the pandemic, that Poland has become a leader," Waldemar Buda, deputy minister of funds and regional policy, said.
It was indicated that as of April 22, 2021, the European Union transferred to Poland as reimbursement of expenses incurred under the Cohesion Fund, the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund, and the Youth Initiative, a total of nearly €44.2 billion. In Poland, more than 89,000 investments are currently being implemented with EU funding with a total value of almost PLN 522 billion. In this amount, the share of EU funds is PLN 317.3 billion, i.e. over 91 percent of all available funds for our country. It has been added that the time to invest EU funds for 2014-2020 is until the end of 2023.
"Poland is now exactly in the place where we should be in accordance with the assumptions regarding the pace of spending EU funds," the release reads.
