Polish airports are expected to handle nearly 57 million passengers by the end of 2024, marking a 5 million increase from last year, Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak announced Tuesday. This milestone reflects strong growth in the aviation sector, with airports like Kraków surpassing 10 million passengers and Rzeszów exceeding 1 million.
Warsaw Chopin Airport, Poland's largest, is on track to welcome its 20 millionth passenger this year, while Gdańsk Airport has already served 6 million. Klimczak highlighted the government's commitment to supporting aviation development through infrastructure investments, including expansions at Chopin Airport to accommodate 30 million passengers annually by 2029.
Additional plans include a new runway at Modlin Airport, rail connections, and enhanced safety measures. These initiatives align with broader efforts to establish Poland as a hub for modern, efficient, and secure air travel.
