Prices at stores rising, ahead of inflation
Retail prices in Poland are still rising, but the pace of increases is stabilizing. In March 2026, everyday shopping costs were up 3.8% y/y, the same as in February, slightly above January’s 3.7%. Food prices rose 3.2% y/y, showing a slight slowdown.
Experts say the data reflects temporary stabilization rather than real price declines. Lower raw material and energy costs, along with strong price sensitivity among consumers, are easing pressure. However, frequent retail promotions and price wars, especially in discount chains, also helped limit increases.
Despite this, prices remain significantly higher than in previous years, and future rises are possible due to global food and fuel trends, meaning the relief may be short-lived.
