‘Russia is an aggressor state’: President Duda:
Russia is not a normal country, it is not a state that behaves normally, it is an aggressor state; this requires decisive action on the part of the international community, said President Andrzej Duda, who visited the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia. On Wednesday, the president visited the administrative border between Georgia and South Ossetia (the Tskhinvali region in Odzisi), where the EU Monitoring Mission, led by Marek Szczygiel, is stationed – a place visited in November 2008 by the then President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński.
President Duda pointed out that these Georgian territories, contrary to the provisions of international law, had been taken over by Russia.
"This is a Russian military base that should not be there, because according to the agreements that were concluded in 2008 during the Russian invasion of Georgia, Russian troops were to withdraw from here, there were not to be any Russian garrisons in the area where is called the Tskhinvali Region by Georgians, the Russians call it South Ossetia," Andrzej Duda said.
