McDonald’s is under fire over allegations of discrimination, homophobia, and sexual harassment in its UK restaurants. Over 700 current and former employees, some as young as 19, have filed legal complaints through the law firm Leigh Day.
One worker reported being called derogatory names, while another alleged repeated sexual advances. A manager was also accused of making racist remarks about employees.
A McDonald’s spokesperson reaffirmed the company’s commitment to employee safety, stating that all misconduct is thoroughly investigated. The company has introduced new measures, including a Head of Safeguarding, a whistleblowing platform called ‘Red Flags,’ and a dedicated investigation unit.
With 168,000 staff across over 1,400 UK restaurants, McDonald’s faces mounting pressure to address these allegations and ensure a safe work environment for all.
