Indices of two sectors: WIG-INFO for the IT industry and WIG-TELKOM for telecommunications, achieved the largest increases in 2019 of all sector indices on the Polish stock exchange. Both grew by more than 40 percent. The real estate industry index came third. The WIG-INFO index increased in 2019 by 42.3 percent, while the WIG-TELKOM by 40 percent. The third in this respect was WIG-NRCHOM for the real estate sector, which recorded an increase of 28.7 percent. Next were: WIG-MEDIA (+19.1%) and WIG-BUDOW (+19%). The last growth index for the year was WIG-LEKI, which increased by 1.8 percent.

These increases are impressive especially against the background of the WIG20 index, which recorded a decline of 5.6 percent last year. WIG-FUEL (-18.9 percent) and WIG-ENERG (-18.6 percent), in turn, fared the worst. In 2019, several more sector indices were launched on the WSE, including the long-awaited WIG-GAMES for game producers.
