Two years after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Poles' interest in helping is much smaller than at the beginning of the conflict. However, this help is still very much needed, as the number of victims and the damage caused by the war grows every day, and about a million Ukrainian refugees remain in Poland.

"The challenges at the moment are related to their integration. We also focus on helping those refugees from Ukraine who are really in need, i.e. single mothers raising several children, the elderly, or people with disabilities," Michał Mikołajczyk, member of the board of the Polish Red Cross, said.

The Polish Economic Institute reports that in the first three months of the Russian invasion of Ukraine alone, 70 percent of Poles were involved in helping refugees. The estimated value of private spending for this purpose could have reached PLN 10 billion during this period. For comparison, in the whole of 2021, Poles' private spending on charitable purposes amounted to PLN 3.9 billion.
