The president of Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has launched an investigation into a possible price-fixing cartel in the cement industry. Six companies — including Holcim Polska, Cemex Polska, and Górażdże Cement — were searched by UOKiK and police following signals of renewed collusion.

This comes years after a similar cartel case in 2009, where producers allegedly coordinated prices for over 11 years. UOKiK warns that cartel behavior in the cement sector, critical for housing and infrastructure, could harm strategic projects and the economy. If evidence confirms the allegations, companies could face fines of up to 10% of turnover, and managers up to PLN 2 million each.
