Ursus revival begins with drones

Ukrainian entrepreneur Oleg Krot, president of MI Crow (19% stake), has announced that agricultural drone production at Ursus will begin this year, with tractor production following in two years. MI Crow acquired Ursus' brand and assets in 2023. The firm plans PLN 176 million in investments, partly funded by EU grants and loans. Upgrades will include modernizing production lines, restoring combustion and electric engine output, and expanding the workforce from 250 to 460.
Drones will use in-house technology and monitor crops, soil, and pests. A new semi-trailer is also set to launch this August. MI Crow board member Bożena Głowacka, who holds 81% of shares, stresses that future tractors will be built from scratch—not assembled from Chinese parts.
Despite the ambitious plans, Ursus faces a tough market, with John Deere, New Holland, and Kubota dominating. Tractor sales in Poland fell 17% in 2024, continuing a three-year decline.
