Velobank survey: only 36% of Polish women are willing to take management function

Only 36% of Polish women express willingness to take on leadership roles, compared to 41% across Europe, according to a VeloBank analysis of the European Social Survey. In contrast, 44% of Polish women firmly reject leadership positions. Among men, 40% are open to leadership, while 36% prefer not to lead.
Iceland (60%) leads in female leadership aspirations, followed by the Netherlands and Switzerland (53%). Italy (23%) and Slovakia (26%) rank lowest. Cultural and structural barriers in the workplace may explain Poland’s results.
Despite this, 76% of Poles believe more female leaders would improve company performance, and 73% support gender balance in politics. Experts emphasize mentoring, education, and family-friendly policies to encourage female leadership.
