Warsaw launches security hub
Warsaw has launched Civil Security Hub Poland, the first civil security center of its kind in Europe, designed to support crisis management with satellite and drone data.
The hub will assist emergency services and public administration in responding more quickly to threats such as floods, fires and other natural disasters by delivering analyzed imagery and spatial data.
The initiative brings together scientific institutions and technology firms. Partners include the Crisis Information Center at the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAN), satellite data company CloudFerro, the Warsaw University of Technology and the European Space Foundation. CloudFerro is developing the cloud infrastructure needed for secure satellite data processing.
Dr. Jakub Ryzenko of CBK PAN says the project aims to bridge the gap between the growing capabilities of satellite technology and its limited use in operational crisis response.
Civil Security Hub Poland also forms part of the European Space Agency’s Space Resilience Nodes program, which plans similar centers across Europe.
