Polish economy needs migrants in specific sectors
Foreign workers have become one of the key pillars of Poland’s labor market, according to an analysis cited by “Rzeczpospolita.” Many sectors, including construction, logistics, agriculture, hospitality and gastronomy, increasingly struggle to fill vacancies with domestic workers. As a result, migrants help maintain continuity and growth in these industries. Deloitte data show that foreigners account for about one in four employees in administrative and support services, over 16% in hotels and restaurants, and 14% in transport and logistics. More than 1.3 million foreigners are registered with ZUS, though this does not include some students or agricultural workers.
Experts warn that without migrants, labor costs would rise, pushing up prices and weakening export competitiveness in some sectors.
