Young adults under 30 overestimate their future pensions from ZUS. Half expect pensions to be at least 69% of their last salary, and 31% believe it will match their wages, according to a study commissioned by the Chamber of Pension Funds and conducted by Katarzyna Sekścińska from the University of Warsaw. However, ZUS estimates the replacement rate for 2060 at just 24.6%, meaning most expectations are unrealistic. Only 12% align with ZUS forecasts.
The study highlights that most young adults believe they are responsible for their retirement savings, but many also expect the state to play a significant role. Additionally, 65% of respondents distrust financial institutions, and many believe they need to save large, often unrealistic sums for retirement.
