BIK: demand for housing loans in September increased by 42.2% y/y

In September 2025, demand for housing loans in Poland rose by 42.2% y/y, according to data from BIK (Credit Information Bureau). A total of 39,900 people applied for mortgages, up from 28,500 a year earlier, marking a 40.2% annual increase and 13.1% growth compared to August. The average loan amount reached PLN 472,500, 6.3% higher than in September 2024 and 1% higher than in August.
Experts attribute the rising demand to lower interest rates, expectations of further cuts, and a 7% y/y increase in nominal wages. These factors have improved borrowing capacity, driving renewed interest in housing loans and signaling a continued rebound in Poland’s mortgage market.
