Dawna Poczta – combining the old with the new in Gdańsk

Dawna Poczta – combining the old with the new in Gdańsk

In a world in which people keep rushing forward, constantly pursuing perfection and feeling outside pressure, it is worth stopping for a while and living the moment. We are increasingly giving up on the hustle and bustle of big-city life, choosing quiet small streets and squares with their own hidden histories. Instead of congested streets and identical skyscrapers, we opt for contact with nature and historic architecture. If we stop for a while and look around us, we may see that all we need is within arm’s reach.

While trying to escape from the big city rush, we are more and more often looking for cozy atmospheric places where we can find a moment of relief. Such places are attracting us through their unique nature and atmosphere. These are the places where we want to be and which we want to recommend to others. Charming small cafes, secondhand bookstores, historic tenement houses and revitalized urban spaces are again attracting much interest and the group of their fans is growing. Such places are not defined by the feeling anonymity and loneliness, which is so typical for big cities. Instead, they encourage one to become part of a nascent community.

Being part of a community, even on a local scale, gives one a sense of security and allows one to enjoy everyday activities. Visiting a local café and ordering a cup of coffee from a barista whom we know because he happens to be our neighbor sounds like the perfect way to start the day, even on a Monday.

The slow life philosophy, which can offer guidance as to how to achieve satisfaction through retaining balance in all spheres of everyday life, is now gaining in popularity. Focusing on one’s inner development, contemplating every-day reality, devoting more time to oneself and one’s family and friends, living close to nature, taking care of one’s health and finding harmony at home may all turn out be the perfect recipe for a happy life in harmony with oneself.

We are now making better-informed choices and are more and more aware of the influence which those choices, as well as our everyday activities, have on the outside world. This is why we try to care for the natural environment, live in an eco-friendly way, sort waste, use natural cosmetics, try not to waste food and clothes. Very often we choose bicycles instead of cars, limit our water and energy consumption, and gradually give up on using plastics. We appreciate the value of old things and try to re-use them while respecting their history and timeless nature.

Such a way of life is not only healthy and useful, but it is also becoming more and more fashionable. What used to be rare and was even seen as eccentric, today stands a chance of becoming a platform for understanding for members of a given community, to whom such issues are dear. This is why we like to boast of our eco habits in social media. We create active social groups and like to use services of those companies, which engage in environmental protection-related activities.

We care about the area around us as much as we care about our own physical and mental development. Our home retreat is the perfect place to practice yoga or meditation and find time for ourselves and our beloved ones. Stylish interiors with a soul, which reflect the character, preferences and needs of the residents, are now in fashion. Our home should be unique as it is, to some extent, our reflection. Atmospheric spaces, which have their own history and cultural heritage, are becoming more and more important for us. This is why we appreciate the unique value and timelessness of old things, renovate broken furniture, collect works of art, and very carefully select accessories and fit out interiors. Re-using retro items makes interiors look unique and is, at the same time, one of the ways of protecting the natural environment.

Developers, which follow the current trends, have recognized the need for creating places that respect the tradition of the local area, rather cut off any links with that area’s history. A prime example of such an approach is Dawna Poczta, a new residential investment of Euro Styl, which is located in the historically and culturally rich Dolny Wrzeszcz district of Gdańsk. The district, which is one of the most fashionable parts of the city, is currently being revitalized. Its potential and unique charm have been noticed and recognized by the inhabitants of Gdańsk. Euro Styl’s investment will also stand out by offering access to well developed transport infrastructure, as well as retail and services. The excellent location will allow its residents to get to the seaside, the city center and the city’s business hubs very quickly.

While working on the Dawna Poczta investment the developer will – taking into account the nature, history and unique atmosphere of the surrounding area – renovate a historic building which in 1929-2005 housed a post office. Euro Styl will combine history with modernity through the delivery of two buildings: a renovated historic property featuring a brick façade and wooden windows with decorative muntins, and a modern building featuring a high finishing standard that will meet the expectations of even the most demanding clients. The buildings will form a complex that will perfectly correspond with the nature and atmosphere of the historic district. Additionally, people who like to have everyday contact with nature and art will have access to a green inner patio that will be the perfect place to relax and socialize. To respond to the needs of the residents and reflect the unique nature of the neighborhood, the patio will be provided with an artistic installation made by the acclaimed Tri-city visual artist Elvin Flamingo who is a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.

Dolny Wrzeszcz definitely stands out on the map of Gdańsk as a unique area with huge potential and great charm. The historic district, which was made famous by the novel The Tin Drum, authored by the Nobel Prize-winning writer Günter Grass who was born there, is now regaining its former glamour due to revitalization processes. This is the perfect place to live for those who – while focusing on the present – respect and are sentimental about the cultural and historic heritage of the district.
