As DPD Polska points out, the decision to purchase 50 eVito vans is intended to facilitate the achievement of one of the goals of the long-term sustainability strategy of DPDgroup, of which the company is a member. The international courier network has pledged to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of deliveries in selected European cities by 2025 and reduce emissions by at least 80% compared to 2020.
“During the coronavirus pandemic, there has been an increased sensitivity not only to health issues but also to the need to act to prevent climate change. We are noticing a growing market for ‘second-hand’ goods and increased demand for environmentally friendly delivery options. We are striving to meet these expectations by introducing low to zero-emission vehicles in our fleet. The next plug-in cars are an important step for DPD Polska in this direction,” said Rafał Wróbel, CEO of DPD Polska.
The Mercedes-Benz eVito has a usable battery capacity of 35 kWh, which provides a range of 150 km. After six hours of charging with AC power of 7.4 kW, a full range is available again. The average energy consumption is 24.9 kWh/100 km. At the same time, the electric drive in no way limits the cargo capacity, which is up to 6.6 m3 in the eVito.
