Prime Minister Donald Tusk revealed future plans for Chopin Airport amidst the government's decision regarding the Central Communication Port (CPK). The CPK, including the new Baranów Airport, aims to be Europe's most modern airport.
Tusk announced urgent modernization efforts for Chopin Airport in the coming months. By 2032, when Baranów is expected to handle 34 million passengers annually, Chopin's role will evolve. The airport will serve as a hub for future communication technologies, including unmanned drones.
Despite Chopin's proximity to Warsaw and its popularity, experts argue that maintaining it alongside CPK may be impractical. The transition is expected to be challenging for Warsaw residents and frequent flyers, as noted by Adrian Furgalski of the TOR Economic Advisory Team. The airport is expected to remain operational until 2034, coinciding with Baranów's launch.
