Google's mega-investment in Poland officially launched

Google officially opens the previously announced Polish Google Cloud region, i.e. a network of local computing infrastructure that Polish companies will be able to use. It is the only investment of this type that the company is launching this year in Europe.
The Google Cloud region – that is, the local data processing center – in Warsaw is the first Google "region" in Central and Eastern Europe and the seventh in Europe.
Today, the Google office in Warsaw is the largest center for the development of Google cloud technologies in Europe and is responsible for the development of tools used by global customers of Google Cloud services (such as Spotify, Snapchat, and Twitter). These tools also enable the operation of Google's own products, including Search engines, YouTube, Gmail, and Google Photos.
As part of Google's ongoing investments in Poland, the company announces an increase in employment in an engineering center in Warsaw. As 300gospodarka has found out, about 500 engineers are already working in the Warsaw office of Google. In the near future, the company wants to at least double this number, which means hundreds of new jobs for industry specialists.
In March, Google announced that Dan Decasper was appointed the head of the Google Cloud engineering center in Warsaw, who also took the position of vice president of Google. Joanna Obstoj, who has many years of experience working at the Goldman Sachs investment bank, has also joined the company. Obstoj will assume the position of engineering director.
The development of the Warsaw office is not the end. In March, the technology giant also announced the creation of a technology implementation team in the Wrocław office as part of the company's preparations for the opening of the Polish Google Cloud region.
