The value of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions in the Polish market fell by 49 percent in 2024, reaching approximately $5 billion, according to the Global M&A Report 2025 by Bain & Company. The number of large transactions – those exceeding $30 million – declined by 44 percent y/y, with the technology and energy & natural resources sectors experiencing the most significant downturns.
“In 2024, the M&A transaction dynamics in Poland were significantly weaker than in global markets. While the global M&A market is recovering after years of slowdown, we observed a substantial decline in Poland. The main factors were geopolitical uncertainty and reduced activity from state-owned enterprises, whose new management teams are still developing long-term strategies,” Paweł Szreder, Partner at Bain & Company, said.
Globally, the M&A market grew by 13 percent, reaching $3.6 trillion. In the EMEA region, transaction value stood at $595 billion (+11 percent y/y). Bain & Company experts predict that 2025 could also bring a recovery in Poland, provided that macroeconomic and regulatory conditions improve.
