Min of Family announces pilot project to shorten work week in Poland

Poland’s Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy announced a pilot program to reduce working hours while maintaining full salaries, starting in early 2026. The program will offer flexible models tailored to different industries, such as shorter workweeks or more vacation days. Employers from private companies, local governments, and NGOs can participate, with PLN 10 million allocated for the first year.
Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk emphasizes an evolutionary, not revolutionary, approach. Expected benefits include improved health, reduced burnout, and sustained economic productivity. The initiative mirrors successful models from France, Belgium, and Denmark, reflecting Poland’s readiness for a modern, efficient labor market that matches technological and social progress.
