Minimum wage in Poland is growing slowly in Poland
Poland’s minimum wage rose more moderately this year, slowing sharply compared with previous years, yet it remains among the highest in the European Union. In 2026, the statutory minimum wage stands at PLN 4,806 gross. Adjusted for purchasing power (PPS), it equals 1,545 PPS, placing Poland among eight EU countries with the strongest minimum wages—ahead of Spain and well above other Central and Eastern European states. However, after years of rapid increases, Poland now ranks only mid-table in real growth terms. Past hikes improved low-income earners’ purchasing power but also led to wage compression, with over three million workers earning the minimum.
Economists warn this has fueled pay pressure, rising service prices, and accelerated automation, while creating challenges for the public sector.
