Operation Horizon puts 10,000 soldiers on guard at Poland’s railroads
Poland has launched Operation Horizon, a nationwide mission aimed at improving the security of railways and transport hubs after recent acts of sabotage. Up to 10,000 soldiers will support police and security services in monitoring critical infrastructure. The operation, approved by the president and coordinated by the Armed Forces’ Operational Command, focuses on targeted surveillance of high risk rail sections identified by intelligence services. Troops will use advanced reconnaissance tools, including drones and helicopters. The goal is deterrence and rapid response, not mass deployment at stations. About 400 Territorial Defence soldiers were already patrolling key railway areas earlier in the week. Police and other MSWiA agencies will participate, with forces increased if needed.
