PKP Intercity will run fast trains between Warsaw, Berlin and Szczecin
Poland’s rail sector has outlined a strategy for the next decade centered on high-speed rail. According to plans by Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, the first section of the High-Speed Rail network will open in 2032, linking Warsaw with Łódź and the new national airport, with trains capable of up to 350 km/h. By 2035, once the full “Y-line” is completed, fast services will run from Warsaw to Berlin and Szczecin every two hours, and to Wrocław every hour. Connections between Warsaw and Łódź will operate every 30 minutes. PKP Intercity plans to introduce new high-speed rolling stock from 2032.
Some elements, including a tunnel under Warsaw, may be delayed, slightly extending travel times in the early phase.
