Galeria Bemowo, one of the oldest shopping centers in Warsaw, may be demolished and replaced with a large residential development. The site’s owner, Futureal, plans to close the mall in early 2027 and redevelop the five-hectare property into a housing complex with around 1,200 apartments for approximately 3,000 residents. The project would also include retail space, a grocery store, a preschool, and green areas.

The proposal has sparked opposition from some local officials and residents, who argue the area should retain its commercial and community functions. Concerns also focus on the nearby Warsaw-Babice airport and planned S7 expressway infrastructure. The project’s future will depend largely on upcoming zoning and city planning decisions.
