In the first half of 2024, Poland’s automotive exports fell by 17.86% y/y, reaching €23.7 billion. The decline is driven by a 56.5% drop in lithium-ion battery exports, a segment highly dependent on EU demand. Factors include high costs and decreasing orders, particularly in electromobility, resulting in job cuts and plant closures. Diesel engine exports fell by 72.03%, while automotive parts rose by 2.65%, reaching €9.06 billion.
Exports of heavy trucks surged by 37.21%, showing a shift in demand. Germany remains the main trade partner, accounting for 33.92% of total exports. Experts predict worsening conditions for the Polish automotive sector throughout 2024.
