Building billion-dollar platforms

Przemysław Krych, founder of Cornerstone Investment Management, began his career restructuring bad loans at Bank Handlowy before moving into real estate and private equity. In the 1990s, he helped restructure firms such as Hortex and Chełm Cement Plant, then led privatization and investment projects including Domy Towarowe Centrum and Manufaktura. Later, he created billion-dollar platforms such as Student Depot and Resi4Rent, pioneering institutional investment in Poland’s rental and student housing markets. Krych attracted more than €10 billion of foreign capital to Poland—more than some public agencies. A 2017 legal ordeal reshaped his outlook, prompting a shift toward global, selective investing. Today, he focuses on AI infrastructure, the defense industry, and pan-European ventures. His portfolio includes EcoWipes, Okechamp, ProService, and Avenga. “Cash multiple is my friend, IRR my enemy,” he says—emphasizing tangible results over theoretical returns.
