Leasing industry: Brussels' push for EVs will cause a huge problem in Poland
The Polish leasing industry is warning that EU plans to “green” corporate fleets could hurt not only leasing companies, but also millions of businesses using combustion-engine cars. Monika Constant, head of the Polish Leasing Association, says the proposed rules are too strict and could destabilize companies rather than encourage them to switch to electric vehicles.
Under the draft rules, by 2030 electric cars would have to make up 31% of corporate and leasing fleets, while low-emission vehicles would account for 46%. In Poland, EVs currently represent only about 6% of fleets. The industry argues that Poland lacks sufficient charging infrastructure, especially for apartment residents, and that forced electrification could reduce combustion-car values, increase leasing costs, and disrupt the used-car market.
