Polish investment market waiting for impetus from Innovate Poland program
The launch of the Innovate Poland program could help revive Poland’s private equity and venture capital market, according to the Polish Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (PSIK). Success will depend on opening the program to a broad range of domestic and foreign institutional investors and ensuring stable, long-term funding. Currently, PE and VC investments account for just 0.15% of Poland’s GDP, far below the European average of 0.6%. PSIK stresses that public funding alone is insufficient and must be complemented by private capital.
The planned fund-of-funds structure, supported by BGK, PZU, and PFR, could attract large foreign investors. However, legislative changes are needed, particularly to unlock capital from pension funds and insurers and reduce regulatory barriers.
