Smartphones increasingly support smart homes

According to a study commissioned by tedee, as much as 84 percent of Poles regularly use their smartphone. By the way, they indicate it as the most useful smart device that they use every day. Already for 7 out of 10 of our compatriots, the smartphone has become a banking tool for managing finances and ordering transfers. For 45 percent it serves as a boarding pass at the airport, an access key to the parcel locker or proof of booking and payment for services. Approx. 20 percent of people use a smartphone as a payment card or replace it with a paper ticket in public transport. Increasingly, Poles use it, including to open the door to the house, or control the blinds – already 16 percent of our compatriots use intelligent devices.
“Our study clearly shows that the smartphone has become a "life management center" for many people. They use it every day, both for fun and communication, but also for more serious matters, such as paying for purchases. Today, we also observe how the most popular multi-tool in the world is enriched by another function – it becomes the key to our apartment. And this is an intelligent key, giving comfort and security that traditional keys cannot offer,” Andrzej Kaszycki, Vice President of the Management Board of tedee, said.
In 2019, 1/3 of people building a house or renovating an apartment in Poland decided to install smart devices. Poles most often use smart TVs and watches, but also security solutions: alarms (13 percent), sensors, (10percent) and monitoring cameras (9 percent). On the home smart devices market, however, intelligent door locks are becoming more and more popular. Over half of the respondents (58 percent) would be willing to use this type of gadget in their home. One of the main reasons is the convenience and security that these types of solutions provide.
