NBP: lowering Poland’s prospects by rating agencies could lower rating next year

NBP President Adam Glapiński warned that the recent outlook downgrades for Poland by Moody’s and Fitch Ratings could lead to an actual rating cut within a year. Speaking at a conference, he said the September decisions were a warning signal for Poland to maintain fiscal discipline. Moody’s revised Poland’s outlook from stable to negative while affirming its A2 rating, and Fitch did the same, keeping the rating at A-. Glapiński noted that bond yields and investor sentiment remained unchanged, showing confidence in Poland’s strong fundamentals.
However, he called the move a “red light” from rating agencies, signaling that the government must carefully manage public finances in the coming year.
