Average debts are increasing. Poles falling into spiral of debt
Poles’ debts are rising faster than in previous years, and the average overdue amount per insolvent borrower has reached 34,477 zł, according to BIG InfoMonitor and BIK. Growing averages show that financial problems are increasingly complex, often starting with small delays and turning into serious credit and non-credit debts. More than 405,000 people now struggle with both categories at once. The biggest burden is bank debt, with an average of 39,719 zł, including record mortgage arrears of 262,566 zł.
Non-credit debts are smaller but widespread, especially unpaid alimony averaging 58,607 zł. Experts warn that small obligations such as telecom bills often trigger the debt spiral. They stress budgeting discipline, timely payments and quick contact with creditors to prevent escalation.
