Miners at PG Silesia have launched an underground protest in response to the company’s planned mass layoffs, affecting all 754 employees. Their demands include equal treatment under the mining law, a meeting with the energy minister, improved workplace safety, payment of overdue bonuses, and job security assurances. The protest was triggered by the exclusion of PG Silesia from recent mining legislation that would offer social protections. The mine is undergoing restructuring and is legally barred from receiving public aid.

However, the energy ministry is exploring legal solutions following a lease offer from company Bumech. Layoffs, initially planned for December 18, were postponed to January 12, 2026, pending further developments.
