The architectural consortium has delivered the construction design for the new CPK airport, railway station, and transport hub, with project verification ongoing. The first phase is set to open by late 2032, with capacity for up to 34 million passengers annually. The terminal will span 450,000 m², offering three levels for passenger services, including check-in, arrivals, and transfers. Initial capacity includes handling 11,000 passengers per hour with 140 check-in counters, expandable to 170.
The airport's phased construction begins with piers B (for Non-Schengen long-haul flights) and C and D (for Schengen and Non-Schengen flights), allowing service for 50-68 aircraft at once. The project prioritizes passenger comfort with shorter transfer distances and optimized space. Adjustments to the roof design, including fewer skylights and improved weather protection, aim to reduce steel use and enhance aesthetics.
The CPK project integrates air, rail, and bus transportation, with up to half of passengers expected to arrive by train. This milestone strengthens Poland's economic development and enhances the national carrier PLL LOT's market position. The full project involves over 500 designers from leading firms, including Foster + Partners and Buro Happold.
