Fuel imports from Russia have closed in Poland
Since April 2025, Poland’s foreign trade data have shown no fuel imports from Russia, marking the end of Russia’s long dominance in this area and a major improvement in Poland’s energy security. Diversification accelerated after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, supported by the LNG terminal in Świnoujście, Baltic Pipe, and new long-term contracts with alternative suppliers.
By H1 2025, Russia’s share of Poland’s fuel imports had fallen to 0.0%, from more than 80% in 2013. Saudi Arabia became the top supplier, followed by the U.S. and Norway. Most deliveries now arrive by sea, boosting Polish ports.
Despite the global energy crisis, Poland maintained supply continuity while reducing political and economic dependence on Russia.
