Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka said cybersecurity in the energy sector and protection of critical infrastructure are now strategic issues for Poland’s state security, economy, and citizens. In a letter to CYBERSEC EXPO & FORUM 2026 participants in Katowice, he stressed that the energy transition, rapid growth of renewables, grid digitalization, and integration of OT and IT systems create new opportunities but also new risks.

Motyka warned that cyberattacks on transmission and distribution networks, power plant control systems, or renewable energy facilities could affect entire economic and social chains. He said the Energy Ministry treats cybersecurity not as a cost, but as a foundation of Poland’s energy competitiveness and sovereignty, requiring cooperation among government, operators, technology firms, academia, and security services.
