Orlen Upstream Norways begins operating in Eirin field in North Sea
Orlen and Equinor have started gas production from the Eirin field in the North Sea. At peak, the field will supply Orlen with about 270 million cubic meters of gas annually, strengthening energy security for Poland and Europe. The gas is already being transported to Poland.
Eirin holds about 3 bln cubic meters of gas, with Orlen owning 41.3%.
Production uses existing infrastructure at the Gina Krog field, reducing costs and extending its lifespan. The project is powered mostly by renewable energy, resulting in significantly lower CO₂ emissions. Overall, the investment boosts Orlen’s position in Norway and supports stable, low-emission energy supplies.
